The Connectivity Challenge

GigaComm is one of the newer independent networks in Melbourne, and plenty of businesses have joined it as an alternative to the NBN. That instinct is right: an independent network can be faster to install and free of NBN wholesale bottlenecks.

The question for a business is what the network is designed around. A network that serves homes and businesses side by side has to balance both. Is your connection planned for business-hours load? Will it reach your other sites? And as your team grows, how far can your speed scale?

Summit has built fixed wireless for business, and only business, since August 2000. If you are reviewing your GigaComm service, we are an easy comparison to make.

How Summit Helps

  • Business Customers Only

There are no households on Summit's network. Capacity is planned around office hours, so your performance is never balanced against home users.

  • Speeds That Scale to 10 Gbps

Symmetric options from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, so uploads match downloads and you can keep stepping up without changing provider.

  • 500+ Suburbs and Regional Victoria

Our network covers more than 4,500 square kilometres, from the CBD to industrial estates and regional Victoria, so every branch can sit on one network.

  • A Licensed Carrier Since 2000

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and has run its own network for more than 26 years, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres.

  • Installed in 10 Business Days, Guaranteed

Live within 10 business days of order, or your first month is free.

  • The Full Business Stack

Hosted PBX, SIP trunks, business mobiles and automatic 4G failover, from the same carrier as your internet, on one invoice.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of GigaComm?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier (ACMA Carrier Licence #388) and is not affiliated with GigaComm. We run our own fixed wireless network and have done since August 2000.
Why switch if GigaComm is working for us?
If it does everything you need, you may not need to. Businesses usually move to Summit for a business-only network, higher speed tiers, multi-site coverage, or phones and internet from one carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my current contract?
That depends on your current agreement, so check your terms first. We can schedule your install around your end date.
Will there be downtime when I switch?
There should not be. We install and test your Summit connection while your existing service is still active.
How quickly can you connect my business?
In as little as 10 business days from order. If we do not meet that timeframe, your first month is free.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes. We port your existing numbers to a Summit Hosted PBX or SIP trunk.
Do you connect homes?
No. Summit's network is business-only.
Is Summit's network at my address?
Summit covers 500+ suburbs across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Use our coverage checker or call 1300 049 749.
