Overview

EmuTel is a business telco based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, with a focus on rural, regional and remote businesses. It sells business nbn, a hosted business phone system, business mobile plans, IT support and Microsoft 365 backup and support.

Businesses review their telco for ordinary reasons: a contract coming to an end, a move to new premises, growth that changes what the phone system needs to do, or a wish to have internet and phones delivered by one carrier that answers for both. Some simply prefer a provider that only serves businesses.

Summit Internet has been connecting Australian businesses for 26 years. We build, own and operate our own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, and we supply business nbn, a hosted PBX, SIP trunks and business mobile plans. When your internet and phones are both with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised on the connection.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with EmuTel.

How Summit Helps

  • Business nbn with a static IP included

Every business nbn service includes a static IP, ready for remote access, VPNs and cloud systems. On full-fibre nbn, speeds go up to 2000/500 Mbps.

  • A cloud phone system with every feature included

Our hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. There are no feature add-ons to work through.

  • Handsets ready to plug in

We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you, so staff can start taking calls on the new system without on-site setup.

  • Keep your existing numbers

We port your existing business numbers to Summit, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, so customers keep calling the numbers they already know.

  • Voice prioritised on your connection

When your internet is also with Summit, we prioritise voice traffic (QoS) so calls stay clear while the office is busy uploading files or on video calls.

  • Business mobiles on the same bill

Add business mobile SIM plans so internet, phones and mobiles sit on one bill from one provider.

  • A backup link if the main service drops

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main service returns.

  • Already using Microsoft Teams

If your team works in Teams, Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing lets staff make and take business calls inside Teams. You keep your existing Microsoft licences; Summit supplies the calling.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current services, such as nbn, phone numbers, handsets and mobiles, plus your contract end date. We use it to plan the switch.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right mix of business nbn, hosted PBX or SIP trunks, and mobiles, and quote it on one bill.

  3. 3 Install and configure

We order your connection, set up the phone system and preconfigure handsets so they are ready when they arrive.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Close the old services

Once everything is working on Summit and your numbers have ported, you can cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of EmuTel?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with EmuTel.
Why switch if my EmuTel service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract ends, when they move premises, or when they want internet and phones from one carrier that runs its own network.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with EmuTel. Check your contract for any early termination terms. Many businesses time their switch to their contract end date, and we can plan the move around it.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases. We port your existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
How long does porting take?
The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days. We keep you informed throughout.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
If you have an on-premises phone system you want to keep, SIP trunks connect it to Summit, starting from 2 channels and scaling up or down. If you would rather move to the cloud, our hosted PBX replaces it.
Does Summit supply Microsoft 365?
No. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences. If you use Microsoft Teams, we can provide Teams Calling via Direct Routing alongside your existing licences.
Can I move my business mobiles too?
Yes. Summit offers business mobile SIM plans, so mobiles can sit on the same bill as your internet and phones.
