Overview

Ecotel is an independent, family-owned business telco based in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It sells a cloud PBX phone system with a softphone, call flow builder, AI voice agents and omnichannel messaging, along with Business nbn, symmetric business fibre, 4G/5G failover, mobile and IoT SIMs on the Telstra and Optus networks, and refurbished devices.

There are plenty of good reasons to review a provider without anything being wrong. A contract is coming to an end. You are moving office. You want your internet and phones from one carrier with voice traffic prioritised across the connection. Or you would simply rather deal with a provider that builds and runs its own network.

Summit Internet is a business-only carrier. We build, own and operate our own network with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, and we supply Business nbn, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and business mobile plans to Australian businesses.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Ecotel.

How Summit Helps

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to your office.

  • Keep Your Numbers, Including 1300 and 1800

We port your existing numbers across, and we supply 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so your callers reach you the same way they always have.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Have

Prefer to keep an on-premises PBX? Our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team works in Teams, we connect it to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences; we provide the calling.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Our Business nbn plans are available nationally, with a static IP included and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. Every service sits behind DDoS protection as standard.

  • Dedicated Fibre for Larger Sites

If you need more than nbn, Ethernet over fibre gives you a dedicated business connection on Summit's own network. We will scope the right option for each of your sites.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches your site to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your main link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

Add business mobile SIM plans and everything sits with one carrier. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised across the connection.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Send us a recent bill or a list of your services: cloud phone users, numbers, internet connections and mobile SIMs. We will map each one to a Summit equivalent.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend the right voice, internet and mobile setup for each site and show you exactly what it costs. Request a quote to get started.

  3. 3 Set up your new services

We connect your internet and configure your new phone system, with handsets preconfigured and shipped if you need them, before anything changes for your callers.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are live with Summit and everything is working, you cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Ecotel?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not owned by, affiliated with or a reseller of Ecotel.
Why switch if my Ecotel service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, they are moving office, they want internet and phones from one carrier that runs its own network, or they want a static IP, 4G backup and a fully featured cloud phone system bundled together.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Ecotel, so check your contract terms. Many businesses time the switch to line up with the end of their contract, and we are happy to plan the move around that date.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases we can port your existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
How long does number porting take?
According to the ACMA, single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days. We keep you updated through the process.
What does Summit's cloud phone system include?
Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps.
Can I use my own phone system instead?
Yes. If you have a PBX you are happy with, our SIP trunks connect it to the phone network, starting from 2 channels.
Do you offer business nbn nationally?
Yes. Summit's Business nbn is available to Australian businesses nationally, with a static IP included and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn.
Can I switch only part of my services?
Yes. Some businesses move their phones first, or start with one site, and bring the rest across later. We will quote whatever combination suits you.
