Overview

DataWave Internet is an internet provider based in Wondai, Queensland, which also lists separate Shoalhaven tech support and accounts numbers. Its website lists nbn data plans, ADSL, 3G/4G mobile broadband and internet bundles with a phone service, along with web hosting, server and email solutions for businesses. Its support page covers email addresses on domains such as datawave.net.au, shoal.net.au, burnett.net.au and fastrac.net.au.

Businesses review their internet provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, the office is moving, the connection now carries cloud software and phone calls that matter, or they want internet, phones and mobiles from one provider that only serves businesses.

Summit offers business nbn nationally with a static IP included, 4G Backup that fails over automatically, and a hosted phone system to replace an analogue line, all on one bill. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with DataWave.

How Summit Helps

  • Business nbn with a static IP included

Every business nbn service from Summit includes a static IP address. That suits remote access, security cameras, VPNs and anything else that needs a fixed address. On full-fibre nbn, speeds go up to 2000/500 Mbps.

  • A business-only provider

Summit does not sell residential services. Every customer is a business, so plans, support and the network are built around business use rather than home broadband.

  • Backup for when the line drops

4G Backup switches your connection to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) automatically if your fixed service goes down, and switches back when it returns. Card payments, cloud software and phones keep working.

  • A 4G service with a static IP

If you use mobile broadband today because a fixed line is not practical, Summit's 4G Static IP service gives you a mobile connection with a fixed address for remote access and monitoring.

  • Phones that replace an analogue line

If your bundle includes an analogue phone service, Summit's Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps.

  • Voice traffic prioritised

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised on the line, so a large upload does not cut into a phone call.

  • Fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria

If you have a site in Melbourne or regional Victoria, Summit's own fixed wireless network covers 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or the first month is free.

  • One bill for internet, phones and mobile

Internet, phones and business mobile SIM plans all come from Summit on one bill, with one provider to call.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

List your DataWave services, such as your nbn or ADSL plan, mobile broadband and any phone line, plus your contract end date.

  2. 2 Get a recommendation

We check what is available at your address and recommend a business nbn, Ethernet over fibre or 4G service, with backup and phones if you want them.

  3. 3 Plan your email and hosting

If you use a DataWave email address or hosting, arrange where they will live before you cancel, so nothing is lost when the old service ends.

  4. 4 Install and cut over

We install and test your new service, then you move across at a time that suits your business.

  5. 5 Cancel the old service

Once everything is working on Summit, you cancel your DataWave service in line with your agreement.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of DataWave?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388, and has no affiliation with DataWave.
Why switch if my DataWave service is working?
If your current service does everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they move office, when they need a static IP or backup connection, or when they want internet and phones from one business-only provider.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your DataWave agreement. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and time the switch to your contract end where you can. We can help you plan the timing.
What happens to my DataWave email address?
Check with DataWave what happens to an email address on its domains when you cancel. Before you cancel, move your mail to a service you control, ideally on your own domain, and update your contacts. Ask us when you request a quote and we can help you plan the order of steps.
Do I get a static IP with Summit's business nbn?
Yes. A static IP is included with every Summit business nbn service.
Can Summit replace my analogue phone line?
Yes. Summit's Hosted PBX is a cloud phone system from $10 per user per month. Existing numbers can usually be ported, and you keep the old service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
What if nbn is not available or reliable enough at my site?
Summit also offers 4G Static IP, 4G Backup and Ethernet over fibre. In Melbourne and regional Victoria, you can check coverage for Summit's own fixed wireless network.
Does Summit offer fixed wireless outside Victoria?
No. Summit's fixed wireless network covers Melbourne and regional Victoria only. Elsewhere in Australia, Summit offers business nbn, Ethernet over fibre and 4G services.
