Overview

Core Telecom, which trades as Coretel, describes itself as a wholesale and retail telecommunications provider serving businesses across Australia. Its website says it was founded in 2021, and it lists business nbn, fibre to the business, fixed wireless, SD-WAN, mobile SIM plans, a cloud PBX, UCaaS, Business SIP trunking and Microsoft Teams among its services.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is coming to an end, the office is moving, a phone system needs replacing, or the team simply wants internet, phones and mobile handled by a single carrier that only works with businesses. If any of those apply to you, it is worth comparing what else is available before you renew.

Summit Internet has been connecting Australian businesses for 26 years. We build, own and operate our own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, and we sell to businesses only. We can take over your business nbn or fibre, move your numbers to a Hosted PBX or SIP trunks, and put the lot on one bill.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Core Telecom or Coretel.

How Summit Helps

  • Internet and phones from one carrier

When your internet connection and your phone service are both Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised across the link with QoS. There is one carrier to call and one bill covering internet, phones and mobile.

  • A cloud phone system with every feature included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you, ready to plug in.

  • SIP trunks for the phone system you already own

If you run your own PBX on Business SIP today, Summit SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes, so you can keep your existing hardware.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your staff live in Teams, we connect it to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • Business nbn with a static IP included

Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, at up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. We also provide Ethernet over fibre.

  • Fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria

For sites in Melbourne and regional Victoria, our own fixed wireless network covers 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or the first month is free.

  • Automatic 4G backup

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back once your main link returns. DDoS protection comes as standard on our network.

  • Mobile and inbound numbers in the same account

Add business mobile SIM plans and 1300 and 1800 numbers, plus fax to email and on-hold messaging, so every service sits with one provider.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Send us a recent bill or a list of your services, numbers and sites, and we will map out the equivalent Summit services.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We confirm what is available at each address and give you a written quote for internet, phones and mobile.

  3. 3 Set up the new service

We install your connection and configure your Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling, with handsets preconfigured if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Close the old account

Once your numbers and internet are live with Summit, you can cancel the remaining services with your previous provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Core Telecom?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier, holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Core Telecom or Coretel.
Why switch if my Core Telecom service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, they are moving office, they want internet and phones from one carrier on one bill, or they prefer a provider that only serves businesses.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and we can time your switch so the new service starts as the old contract finishes.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. We port your existing numbers to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
I use a cloud PBX now. What would I move to?
Most businesses in that position move to our Hosted PBX, which starts from $10 per user per month with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and apps included.
I have my own phone system on SIP. Can I keep it?
Yes. Summit SIP trunks connect to your existing phone system, starting from 2 channels and scaling up or down as you need.
Can you connect our Microsoft Teams to the phone network?
Yes, through Teams Calling with Direct Routing. You keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do now, as Summit does not resell them.
Do you provide business nbn outside Victoria?
Yes. Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included. Our fixed wireless network is in Melbourne and regional Victoria only, and you can check coverage for your address.
Can I move internet and phones at the same time?
Yes. We can install the connection first and then port your numbers onto it, so your phones run over a Summit connection with voice prioritised from day one.
