Overview

Comvergence is a Melbourne company with its head office in South Yarra. It was founded in 2005 and started as a wholesale VoIP provider. Today it sells business internet, including business fibre and nbn connections, Cloud PBX phone systems with 1300 numbers, Microsoft Teams calling, managed firewalls and Telstra business mobile plans.

Businesses review their provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is coming to an end, they are moving office, or they want to compare how another business-only carrier would run their internet and phones together on one network.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Comvergence.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • Business nbn and Fibre With a Static IP

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need a dedicated connection, Ethernet over fibre is available.

  • Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria

In Melbourne and regional Victoria, Summit fixed wireless covers 500+ suburbs, with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps. It is installed in 10 business days or your first month is free.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Moving from a Cloud PBX? Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling and SIP Trunks

If your staff call from Teams, Teams Calling connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing. If you run your own phone system, SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down.

  • 1300 and 1800 Numbers

Bring your 1300 and 1800 numbers across, and add fax to email and on-hold messaging alongside your phone system.

  • Voice Prioritised When the Internet Is Ours Too

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard, and 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

Add business mobile SIM plans and your internet, phones and mobiles arrive on one bill from one carrier.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

List your Comvergence services, such as your internet connection, Cloud PBX users, Teams calling, 1300 numbers and mobiles, plus your contract end date.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right connection for each site and a hosted phone system, SIP trunks or Teams Calling to match how you work, and send you a written quote.

  3. 3 Install your connection

We install your new internet service and configure your phone system, with handsets preconfigured and shipped if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We port your existing numbers across. Keep your Comvergence service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel once you are live

When your internet is running and your numbers have moved to Summit, you close the old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Comvergence?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Comvergence.
Why switch if my Comvergence service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they want to compare another business-only carrier for internet and phones together.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Comvergence. Check your contract end date and any commitments on equipment or services, and we can time the switch so your Summit service starts as your current term ends.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers, including 1300 numbers, can be ported to Summit. Keep your Comvergence service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Do you support Microsoft Teams calling?
Yes. We provide Teams Calling through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep those with your current Microsoft provider.
Is Summit fixed wireless available at my office?
Summit fixed wireless covers Melbourne and regional Victoria only. Check your address to see whether your site is covered. Outside those areas, we offer business nbn nationally.
Do I need Summit internet to use Summit phones?
No. Our phone services work over your existing business internet. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, which is why many customers move both.
Can I move my mobiles too?
Yes. Summit offers business mobile SIM plans, so your mobiles can sit on the same bill as your internet and phones.
