Overview
Comms Group Limited is an ASX-listed communications business headquartered in Sydney. It sells cloud voice to Australian businesses and multinationals, including Microsoft Teams Calling, a hosted phone system and SIP platform, Cloud Connect for Webex Calling, inbound and toll-free numbers, contact centre and call recording add-ons, and wholesale voice. For Australian SMEs and corporates it also offers mobile services and connectivity such as fibre, nbn, SD-WAN and firewall services. It acquired Next Telecom in January 2021 and the business and assets of TasmaNet in June 2025. On 1 September 2026 it settled the sale of its IT managed services division, onPlatinum, to efex, saying it would focus on cloud communications, unified communications, domestic telecoms and global services.
Businesses review their phone provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is coming to an end, the office is moving, the phone system is due for a refresh, or they want their phones and internet from one carrier that runs its own network. Whatever the reason, it is worth comparing before you renew.
Summit offers Microsoft Teams Calling through Direct Routing, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and 1300 and 1800 numbers, with business nbn, Ethernet over fibre and 4G backup alongside. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Comms Group.
How Summit Helps
-
Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing
If your staff make and take calls in Teams, Teams Calling connects Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licensing arrangements, as Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.
-
A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included
Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.
-
SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own
Keeping your existing PBX? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.
-
Inbound 1300 and 1800 Numbers
Move your 1300 and 1800 numbers alongside your local lines, with fax to email and on-hold messaging available too.
-
A Licensed Carrier With Its Own Network
Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and has been connecting Australian businesses for 26 years. We build, own and operate our network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.
-
Voice Prioritised on Summit Internet
When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Business nbn includes a static IP, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, and Ethernet over fibre is available for sites that need dedicated capacity.
-
4G Backup and Business Mobiles
4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back when your main link returns. Add business mobile SIM plans to the same account.
-

We recently moved our dental practice over to Summit for phone services, and the experience has been excellent from start to finish. The team has been responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire setup process. The transition was smooth, any issues were addressed promptly, and communication was always clear and efficient. Reliable phones and internet are essential for a busy practice like ours, and Summit has delivered exactly that. A special thank you to Michael for his patience and ongoing assistance during the transition. Highly recommend Summit to any business looking for reliable service and great customer support.Read more

After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more
