Overview
Commander has long sold phone and internet services to Australian small and medium businesses, including business phone lines, hosted phone systems, business internet and business mobile. Commander was an M2 company, and M2 Group merged with Vocus in February 2016. Commander has since moved to the Vocus brand, with Vocus saying customers' services continue, the Vocus name will appear on bills and communications, and local Commander Centres now operate as Vocus Business Partners.
A change of brand is a natural point to check that your services still fit. Businesses also review their provider when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.
Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for existing phone systems, Microsoft Teams Calling and business mobile, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Commander or Vocus.
How Summit Helps
-
A Business-Only Carrier
Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.
-
A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included
If your business uses a hosted phone system today, our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.
-
SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own
Keeping your existing on-site phone system? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.
-
Business nbn With a Static IP
Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre.
-
Voice Prioritised on Our Network
When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and cloud backups.
-
Business Mobile on the Same Bill
Add business mobile SIM plans so your internet, phones and mobiles sit with one provider and arrive on one bill.
-
Teams Calling and Inbound Numbers
Make and receive calls in Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing, and keep your 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging with us.
-
Backup That Fails Over Automatically
4G Backup switches to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, and fails back automatically when it returns.

We recommend the right connection, phone system or SIP trunks for your business and put it in writing.
- 3 Install and test

We install your Summit internet and set up your phone system while your existing services keep running.
- 4 Port your numbers
Port your numbers
We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your old service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
- 5 Cancel the old services
Cancel the old services
Once your numbers have moved and everything is working, you cancel your previous services.

We recently moved our dental practice over to Summit for phone services, and the experience has been excellent from start to finish. The team has been responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire setup process. The transition was smooth, any issues were addressed promptly, and communication was always clear and efficient. Reliable phones and internet are essential for a busy practice like ours, and Summit has delivered exactly that. A special thank you to Michael for his patience and ongoing assistance during the transition. Highly recommend Summit to any business looking for reliable service and great customer support.Read more

After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more
