Overview

Command A Com (Commandacom) is a Perth company that has described itself as supplying office phone systems to Perth businesses and government agencies for more than 20 years. Its range has included on-premises and hybrid phone systems from Avaya, Panasonic and Samsung, a hosted PBX, cloud SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling, unified communications, contact centre services and video conferencing. In 2013 it acquired Perth IT company Techcare and added managed IT services alongside its telecommunications work.

Businesses review their phone setup for ordinary reasons: a contract or maintenance agreement is ending, an on-site phone system is due for replacement, the office is moving, or they want their phones, internet and mobiles from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for the phone system you already own, Microsoft Teams Calling, 1300 and 1800 numbers, business nbn with a static IP and business mobile SIM plans, all on one bill. We build, own and operate our own network. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Command A Com.

How Summit Helps

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant (IVR), ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you, including to offices in Perth.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If your Avaya, Panasonic or Samsung system still does the job and supports SIP, SIP trunks connect it to our network. They start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Calls in Microsoft Teams

Answer your calls in Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, and we provide the calling.

  • Inbound Numbers, Fax to Email and On-Hold Messaging

Add 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so customers can reach you on one number and hear about your business while they wait.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Put your phones and internet with one carrier. Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and cloud backups.

  • Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, and fails back automatically when it returns.

  • Phones, Internet and Mobiles on One Bill

Add business mobile SIM plans and your phone system, internet and mobiles arrive together on one bill from one carrier.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your phone system make and model, your numbers, how calls are routed today, your internet service and any contract or maintenance end dates, and we will map out the equivalent Summit services.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for your existing system or Teams Calling, plus internet if you want it, and put it in writing.

  3. 3 Set up and test

We build your call flows, ring groups and queues and configure your phones while your existing services keep running.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

Where your numbers can be ported, we lodge the port. Keep your old service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have moved and everything is working, you cancel your previous services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Command A Com?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier (ACMA Carrier Licence #388) and is not affiliated with Command A Com. We build, own and operate our own network.
Why switch if my Command A Com service is working?
If your current setup does everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when their phone system is due for replacement, when they are moving or growing, or when they want their phones, internet and mobiles from one carrier on one bill.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
In many cases, yes. Existing numbers can be ported to Summit where you hold the right to move them. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract and any maintenance agreement before you switch, and where possible time the move to your contract end date. We can plan the switch around that date.
Can I keep my Avaya, Panasonic or Samsung phone system?
Often, yes. If your on-site phone system supports SIP, our SIP trunks can connect it to our network. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX replaces it, and we can preconfigure and ship new handsets.
Does Summit offer Microsoft Teams Calling?
Yes. We connect calling to Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing. We do not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep the licences you already have.
Do I need to take Summit internet as well?
No. You can take our phone services on their own. When your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS and everything arrives on one bill.
Does Summit work with businesses in Perth?
Yes. Our phone services, inbound numbers, business nbn and business mobile plans are available to Australian businesses nationally, including in Western Australia. Summit fixed wireless is limited to Melbourne and regional Victoria.
