Overview
Callex's website describes it as a full-service telecommunications provider for Australian businesses. It says it started in 2002 as a prepaid calling card provider and has since grown into a post-paid voice and internet provider, offering fixed phone lines, a business SIP trunk service, 13, 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, NBN, mobile phone plans and mobile broadband.
Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, the office is moving, the old phone lines need replacing, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.
Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless across Melbourne and regional Victoria, SIP trunks, a cloud phone system, Microsoft Teams Calling, 1300 and 1800 numbers and business mobile plans, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Callex.
How Summit Helps
-
A Business-Only Carrier
Summit does not sell residential services. Every plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.
-
SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own
If your business runs its own phone system, SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.
-
A Cloud Phone System When You Are Ready to Move On
If you are replacing old phone lines or an ageing PBX, Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.
-
Bring Your 1300 and 1800 Numbers
Your inbound 1300 and 1800 numbers can be ported to Summit, along with your existing local numbers. We also offer fax to email and on-hold messaging.
-
Business Internet With a Static IP
Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre.
-
Voice Prioritised on Your Own Connection
When your internet connection is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised across it, and your internet, phones and mobiles arrive on one bill.
-
Backup and Mobile on the Same Account
4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back when your main link returns. Business mobile SIM plans sit on the same account.
-
Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria
If your premises is in our footprint, fixed wireless runs across 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or your first month is free.
How It Works
- 1 Tell us what you have
Tell us what you have
Send us a recent bill or a list of your phone lines, inbound numbers, SIP channels, internet services and mobiles, and when your agreement ends.
- 2 Get a clear proposal
Get a clear proposal
We recommend the right mix of internet, phone system or SIP trunks and mobile, and show you what moves and when.
- 3 Install and set up
Install and set up
We connect your internet and configure your phone system or SIP trunks, with handsets preconfigured if you need them.
- 4 Port your numbers
Port your numbers
We lodge the port for your local and 1300 or 1800 numbers. Keep your Callex services active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
- 5 Cancel the old services
Cancel the old services
Once your numbers are live with Summit and everything is tested, you cancel your remaining Callex services.

We recently moved our dental practice over to Summit for phone services, and the experience has been excellent from start to finish. The team has been responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire setup process. The transition was smooth, any issues were addressed promptly, and communication was always clear and efficient. Reliable phones and internet are essential for a busy practice like ours, and Summit has delivered exactly that. A special thank you to Michael for his patience and ongoing assistance during the transition. Highly recommend Summit to any business looking for reliable service and great customer support.Read more

After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more
