Overview

Business Phones (businessphones.com.au) describes itself as a telecommunications broker, with a head office in Perth and an office in Brisbane. It supplies business phone systems, featuring brands such as 3CX, Cisco, Avaya, Panasonic and Polycom on its website, and arranges network services such as nbn, fixed wireless, fibre and 4G by combining services from other providers, along with consulting and project management.

Businesses review their arrangements for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they would rather deal directly with one carrier that owns its network and works only with businesses. Having your phones and internet with the same carrier makes it simpler to manage changes, route calls and keep track of what you pay for.

Summit offers SIP trunks for the phone system you already have, Hosted PBX if you would rather move to the cloud, and Microsoft Teams Calling, alongside business nbn and fibre, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Business Phones.

How Summit Helps

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If you have an on-premises or IP phone system, connect it to SIP trunks that start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change. Your existing handsets and setup can stay in place.

  • A Cloud Phone System if You Are Ready to Move

Hosted PBX is our cloud phone system, from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you.

  • Keep Your Phone Numbers

We can port your existing numbers to Summit, so the numbers your customers already call stay the same.

  • Calls in Microsoft Teams

Make and receive calls in Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • 1300 and 1800 Numbers, Fax and On-Hold

Summit provides 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so the extras around your phone system can move with it.

  • Internet That Puts Voice First

Pair your phones with business nbn with a static IP included, up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, or Ethernet over fibre. When the internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised.

  • Stay Online if a Line Drops

Add 4G Backup for automatic failover to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and automatic fail-back when your main service returns.

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

List your phone system, your numbers, how calls are routed today and your internet services, and we will recommend the right setup.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We put your phones, numbers, internet and mobiles into one written quote on one bill.

  3. 3 Keep your current services active

Do not cancel your existing phone services before the port completes. Only active numbers can be ported, so a cancelled number may be lost.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port and configure your SIP trunks or Hosted PBX in advance. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports involving multiple numbers can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Go live

Once the port completes, calls arrive on Summit and you can then close your old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Business Phones?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Business Phones.
Why switch if my Business Phones service is working?
If your current arrangement does everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually switch when a contract is ending, when they move office, or when they want their phones and internet directly from one business-only carrier.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. We can port your existing numbers to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
How long does porting take?
The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports involving multiple numbers can take up to 30 days. We will confirm what to expect for your numbers when we lodge the port.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreements with your current providers. Check your contract terms, and if you can, time the switch to line up with the end of your contract.
Can I keep the phone system I already have?
Often, yes. Many on-premises and IP phone systems can connect to Summit's SIP trunks. Tell us the make and model and we will confirm what is needed.
What if we move to a cloud phone system?
If you move to Hosted PBX, every feature is included from $10 per user per month, and handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you so your team is ready on the day you go live.
Can I use Microsoft Teams for calls?
Yes. Summit connects Microsoft Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.
Can Summit supply our internet too?
Yes. Summit provides business nbn with a static IP included nationally, Ethernet over fibre, and fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised.
