Overview

Broadband Solutions is a Melbourne-based provider that sells business nbn, nbn Enterprise Ethernet and fibre internet, along with voice services including SIP trunks, its SmartPABX phone system and Microsoft Teams voice integration. It also offers SD-WAN, VRF private networks and managed services, and was granted an Australian carrier licence in 2021.

Plenty of businesses review their telco at natural points: a contract coming to an end, an office move, a new site, or simply wanting internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses. If you are at one of those points, it is worth comparing what else is available.

Summit Internet is an Australian carrier that has worked only with businesses for 26 years. We build, own and operate our own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, and provide business nbn, Ethernet over fibre, hosted phone systems, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Broadband Solutions.

How Summit Helps

  • Business nbn with a static IP included

Every Summit business nbn service includes a static IP, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. It is available to Australian businesses nationally.

  • Ethernet over fibre for sites that need more

If your business relies on a dedicated fibre or Enterprise Ethernet style service today, Summit's Ethernet over fibre is the comparable step. Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres.

  • SIP trunks for your existing phone system

Keep the phone system you already own and move its lines to Summit SIP trunks. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • A cloud phone system with every feature included

Summit Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps included. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing

If your staff live in Teams, Summit connects calling through Direct Routing so people make and take calls from Teams. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing Microsoft arrangement.

  • Voice traffic prioritised on Summit internet

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Internet, phones and mobile arrive on one bill.

  • 4G Backup and DDoS protection

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main service returns. DDoS protection comes as standard on our network.

  • Fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria

For Victorian sites, Summit fixed wireless covers 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or the first month is free. Check your address.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current services, such as nbn or fibre links, SIP trunks, phone numbers and Teams voice, plus when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a tailored quote

We recommend the right internet, voice and backup mix for each site and send a clear quote.

  3. 3 Install and test

We install your new internet service and set up your phone system, SIP trunks or Teams Calling, with handsets preconfigured if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your Broadband Solutions voice service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have ported and your new services are running, cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Broadband Solutions?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Broadband Solutions.
Why switch if my Broadband Solutions service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract is ending, when they are moving office or adding sites, or when they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with Broadband Solutions. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and we can time your switch to line up with your contract ending.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can generally be ported to Summit. Keep your current voice service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Yes. If you own an on-premise phone system, Summit SIP trunks can connect it, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, Hosted PBX is the alternative.
We use Microsoft Teams for calling. Can Summit support that?
Yes. Summit provides Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing. We do not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing Microsoft licensing in place.
Do you offer business nbn nationally?
Yes. Summit business nbn is available to Australian businesses nationally, with a static IP included. Fixed wireless is available in Melbourne and regional Victoria only.
Can I add a backup connection?
Yes. Summit 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network if your main connection drops, and fails back automatically once it returns.
What about our 1300 or 1800 number?
Summit provides 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, and existing inbound numbers can be ported as part of your move.
