Overview

Australian Phone Company is a VoIP provider that sells business phone services in Australia, including a cloud PBX, SIP trunking for business phone systems, Australian and international virtual numbers, 1300 and 1800 numbers, Microsoft Teams integration and 3CX licences. It also sells home phone plans to residential customers.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the office is moving, the team has grown, or they would rather have internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for existing phone systems, Microsoft Teams Calling and 1300 and 1800 numbers, and can run them over business internet on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Australian Phone Company.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to your office.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Have

If you run your own PBX, including a 3CX system, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes. You keep the hardware and change the carrier behind it.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team lives in Teams, we connect it to the phone network with Direct Routing so staff can make and take external calls from Teams. You keep your existing Microsoft licensing, as Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.

  • Keep Your 1300 and 1800 Numbers

We provide 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, plus fax to email and on-hold messaging, so the numbers your customers already call can move with you.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Own Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised across our network. We build, own and operate that network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • Business Internet to Match

Pair your phones with business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, or fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria. Add 4G Backup for automatic failover to Australia's biggest mobile network.

  • One Bill for Internet, Phones and Mobile

Internet, phones and business mobile SIM plans sit on one bill with one carrier, so there is one account to manage and one team to call.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current phone setup: cloud PBX or your own phone system, how many users or channels, and which numbers you use, including any 1300 or 1800 numbers.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling based on how your business works, and quote it plainly.

  3. 3 Set up and test

We build your call flows, preconfigure handsets if you need them, and test everything before any number moves.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old service

Once the port is complete and calls are flowing on Summit, you can close your old account.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Australian Phone Company?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Australian Phone Company in any way.
Why switch if my Australian Phone Company service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Australian Phone Company. Check your contract terms, and if there is a minimum term, we can time your switch to line up with its end date.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. We port existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing 3CX or other phone system?
Yes. Our SIP trunks connect to compatible phone systems you already own. They start from 2 channels and scale as you need.
What does Summit's Hosted PBX include?
Every feature is included from $10 per user per month: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps.
Do you support Microsoft Teams calling?
Yes, through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.
Do I need to move my internet to Summit too?
No, our phone services can run over another provider's connection. If your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised on our network and everything sits on one bill.
